TRiO

TRiO Student Angela Givens, CCV's 2011 Graduation Speaker

Being a student is hard work, as you already know, and the federally funded TRiO program is intended to be one more source of support in your effort to earn a college degree.  CCV's TRIO program is designed to help students reach their academic potential and meet their educational and career goals.

As a CCV TRiO student, you would be eligible to receive these other benefits:
  • Priority advising relationship with a TRiO Coordinator who will serve as an academic mentor, advisor, transfer counselor, and resource consultant
  • Priority registration which will allow you to register first for classes
  • Possible eligibility to receive TRiO Grants awarded yearly (grants don't have to be paid back!)
  • Access to TRiO's Tech-to-Go program for short term loans ("loaner" laptops, cameras, calculators instruments, etc)
  • Assistance with financial aid forms and financial literacy resoures
  • Workshops, college visits, transfer and career information
  • Social and leadership opportunities
  • Academic support materials.
What do students have to say about TRiO?
"TRiO has helped me achieve my educational goals.  Not only did [the TRiO Grant] assist me with the costs of books for my courses, the program also boosted my self esteem.  TRiO empowers me to be a better person, to believe in myself, and shows me that hard work and determination pay off."
"I would recommend the TRiO program to anyone.  They are there for the long and sometimes difficult road.  They don't give up on you when you are ready to throw in the towel. I have decided this more than once.  When someone else believes in you, it can mean the world."
CCV TRiO is funded to serve only 225 students, so the application process is selective. TRiO assesses applicants' motivation, academic need and ability to benefit.

TRiO is currently available to students who attend the Bennington, Brattleboro, Montpelier, Morrisville, Rutland, St. Albans, and Winooski Academic Centers.   If you are interested in exploring your TRiO eligibility, please read over the TRiO Participation Agreement, complete the application and contact the TRiO Coordinator at your academic center.
