Veterans' Services

Community College of Vermont recognizes and appreciates all veterans and military students have given to our country. CCV would like to provide these men and women the assistance they may need to start college and successfully meet their educational goals.  In fact, CCV is designated as a Military Friendly School by the G.I. Jobs Military Friendly Schools list.  Each year, G.I. Jobs analyzes 7,000 colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide to determine which institutions offer the best education, value and support for veterans and military students.  This annual list recognizes the top 15 percent as Military Friendly Schools.

The number of military-connected students registered at CCV has increased from 128 in the fall of 2009 to 370 for the spring 2012 semester.  We now serve more military-connected students than any other college in Vermont.

How does the College provide supports to veterans and military students?  Each CCV academic center has a local veterans advisor available to assist military-connected students.  Additionally, Chara Vincelette serves as CCV's Resource and Outreach Advisor for Veterans.  In addition to providing assistance with educational benefits and academics, Chara can assist with providing community and outreach referrals.

CCV also offers veterans a 1-credit seminar designed to help veterans transition from military to college life.  Combat to Classroom combines online discussion groups with three evening sessions, and covers skills useful to many returning to college: critical thinking, decision-making, time management skills, and effective study habits.

If you are a veteran or military student, we'd like to say thank you and welcome.  Staff, faculty and students value the maturity and the experience you bring to our classrooms and the CCV community.
